August 2009 Slideshow

August Rush!

Hello all! I can't believe summer is coming to an end, how fast it went for us. I think I start out every blog that way but I can't help it...time just doesn't seem to slow down.

August was a blast, we had some great weather and had a great time enjoying it together. Matt was able to take the first weekend in August to get some much needed yard work and projects around the house done. Malachi and I enjoyed spending that time organizing his room "together" (everything I do he undoes as fast as I can keep up). At 10 months he is now wearing an 18 month size so we had a lot of clothes organizing to do...he is SOOO BIG! He weighs almost 30 lbs., any of you looking for an exercise program I have one for you! All you have to do is babysit the pounds away.

We spent the next weekend fighting the heat and had a nice dinner with the Cokers. We also got to celebrate Lauren's 25th birthday at our house. She was only 19 when Matt and I started dating...see what I mean by time flies? It was great to have everyone over despite the heat.

The weekend of the 22nd we spent some time laying low and preparing for our next couple weeks of company and travel. Matt was still working some pretty crazy hours so it was nice to relax a bit. On Saturday we went to the Sweet's house for Uncle Jeff's 50th birthday celebration! Matt cooked his famous bbq chicken (96 pieces!) and we had the whole family together (minus a couple :( ). Afterwards Matt & I went to my girlfriend Beth's 30th celebration and reunited with a lot of old friends. It was a great weekend!

The following week my besty Becki arrived on Wednesday from Miami just in time to celebrate the big 3 OH with me! We spent my actual birthday shopping and preparing to leave on Friday for the Dostert's in Bend. It was Matt's & my first time away from Malachi together, he stayed with cousin Aly & "uncle" Noah at home. We had an unforgettable weekend rafting on the "cabana" raft together. I can't really put words to it so you'll just have to check out the pictures, we got a lot of sun and had a lot of laughs together and as always had a tough time sending Becki back home.

August was amazing! I am officially 30, Malachi is officially 30 lbs., and Matt smiles at least 30 times a day at all the wonderful things we get to experience with our little man!

We love you all...
xoxo

July 2009 Malachi's First Swim

July 2009 Slideshow

July 2009

It's mid-August and I'm just now getting our July post done...AAAGGGHH! It's been an amazing summer, I don't even have the excuse that we've been overly busy but time has just flown by this last month.

We spent the first weekend (the 4th) at home with our friend Becki from Florida. Malachi was up late enough to enjoy his first fireworks that we did in our driveway. He enjoyed the bright colors but was not overly impressed with the noises they made! It was a wonderful relaxing weekend.

The following weekend we went back to Bend to spend a weekend with the Dostert's and go to Justin & Shelby's wedding. The Francis Ranch is amazing and we were blessed to get to celebrate another wedding with them this summer. As always Bend was more than we could have asked for in a weekend away. Unfortunately Malachi decided to spend that weekend breaking in his first tooth on the bottom...he was not a happy boy which is unusual for him...needless to say we got less sleep that weekend then we have since he was born :(

Speaking of teeth, as I said he broke his first one on the bottom followed a week later by number two right next to it. He is now breaking two more side by side on the top, he'll look like a jack-o-lantern soon!

After Bend it was a weekend of much needed rest for us, although Matt ended up working 6 days as he has been much of this summer. Despite the failing economy it still seems there is a market for lavish pools. We feel very fortunate to have not yet been affected by the downturn and pray for all of you who have been.

The last weekend of July we spent out at the Auer Farm. We have yet to spend a night out there and it was a great chance for them to get to spend time with Malachi without us having to rush out the door. We went for a family arrowhead hunt on the "big farm" and got some amazing pictures (thank you G.G.!). They're in the "July" slideshow above, absolutely wonderful!

Malachi & I have a new tradition of spending Friday afternoons at Grandma & Grandpa Dawson's house...Grandpa D showed Malachi his rock collection for the first time in July, Malachi thought they all tasted wonderful :) Omi picked blueberries and gave Malachi his first taste of fresh blueberries from the Dawson bushes. Matt & I took an impromptu dinner over and cooked it during the July heat with them one weekend after some plans to entertain had fallen through. There is just nothing else like sitting in their backyard having dinner together....please don't end summer!

Stan & Patty have also been watching Malachi from time to time on Friday mornings so I can work or run errands. It's wonderful to have family so close and that he is getting a chance to get to know all of his amazing grandparents. We enjoyed an early dinner with the Cokers in mid-July, Sara Coker had given them a bunch of our nieces Madeline and Emily's toys which she put in "Malachi's" room in their house. He was very excited to play with all of them! Patty has done a really great job of fixing up Lauren's old room into a playroom for Malachi.

So....as you can tell we are surrounded by amazing family and friends. Malachi is growing and learning in the best environment we could ever ask for. We are blessed and thankful to have so many around that put such effort into including us and having us as a part of their lives.

We love you all, enjoy the rest of summer!

June 2009 Slideshow

June 2009

What an amazing month! I'm cheating a bit because I'm actually starting from Memorial Day weekend but it felt like June then so here we go...

We had our first zoo trip that weekend, Malachi was a little young to recognize any of the animals but he knew the elephants from a video he has and loved them. We had a picnic together and really enjoyed ourselves.

The last week of May I had my surgery. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. It went well and I have healed quickly. It wasn't as successful as we had hoped it would be but we are at peace knowing that the Lord has our situation in his hands and if it is his will for us to have another baby we will.

My mom's birthday was the second weekend of June and we enjoyed spending time with them at their house. Matt has mastered the art of the bbq now and has earned quite a reputation for himself :) His chicken and homemade blue cheese is highly requested at family functions now! Malachi was also dedicated that same weekend at our church, we felt blessed to have so many praying for him. We are very thankful for our church family.

Matt celebrated his first Father's Day. We spent Saturday with my dad in Independence picking cherries and enjoying the sun. Matt and Uncle John played corn throw and we got a good laugh at Matt's "tossing technique"...he almost had him! Sunday morning Malachi and I made "daddy" breakfast and we relaxed together before going to the Dawson's and then to the Coker's for dinner. It was a busy weekend but a good first Father's Day. We decided that next year we're going to escape and go to the beach, see you all there!

This last weekend we spent in Bend with Uncle Greg & Aunt Kate. They have a new condo in SW Bend right on the river that is absolutely beautiful. We were able to kayak together while Malachi napped with Aunt Kate and the weather was perfect. We bbq'd (Matt's chicken of course) and watched James Bond (my first!) in their theater room. It was the most relaxed we've been since last year. So relaxed we're going back in two weeks!

Malachi is in such a fun stage right now. He is saying "da da" and "dog". He can wave bye-bye and recognizes 20 words from his "baby can read" program. He is such a fast crawler I can hardly keep up with him and his balance is improving. I wouldn't be surprised if the next time I update this he's walking!

We hope this finds you all well and enjoying your summer. We have another busy month in July so I'll have lots to catch you all up on then.

We love you!
Matt, Corrin & Malachi
