January/ February 2010
Hoping this finds you all well. We are enjoying our February weather up here (for those of you who are away). Yes, I actually said we are enjoying our weather, and I'm not being sarcastic! It has been in the low 60s and absolutely amazing for the past couple of weeks minus a couple of days of rain in between. We feel so spoiled, could this mean an early spring?
January was wonderful, we haven't really slowed down much like we usually do after the holidays. We've had a lot to do with the coming baby, none of which has really gotten done unfortunately, and a lot to do that has had nothing to do with the baby but more with us having fun! Malachi is so active that we are finding ourselves trying to be creative with activities to do to wear him out, we always end up more tired than him somehow but we are really enjoying every stage with him.
On January 20th Matt & I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary! We also took the afternoon off to get our first peek at our new little one and were told we are having another boy. We are both so excited, it will be really special for him and Malachi so close in age to have each other. We know we are going to be so busy!
Matt's inital response was, "well honey the only thing was, I was looking forward to taking Malachi to do guy stuff and leaving you with a little girl to go do girl stuff with"....my response back, "I guess this just means you'll be taking both boys to do guy stuff while mommy gets lots of spa days!"
Over an early dinner to celebrate our anniversary I also informed him that I didn't think I was done having babies, we'll see! Thank you to Omi for allowing us our first afternoon alone in as long as I can remember :)
Over the past few weeks we have been consulting with the doctors regarding Nic's birth and with their advice have decided that a c-section is the safest for both him and I. It looks like Nic will be joining us on or around May 18th! It's really exciting to have a date on the calendar, it's coming so soon.
February has been wonderful so far with our weather. I have spent a lot of time outside with Malachi, lots of walks and our new favorite thing, feeding the ducks. Grandpa Stan joined us the first week of February and took some beautiful pictures.
We spent Superbowl down at the Auers enjoying the sun, taking long walks to see the cows and of course Matt shot skeet. He also brought home his duck that he had shot and cooked it for dinner on Monday night. Can't say it was my favorite but hey, at least he eats what he shoots right? Lets just hope he doesn't take up possum hunting anytime soon....
Malachi and I have had the chance to spend a lot of time with Grammy Sweet these past couple of weeks. We went to the zoo together the second Tuesday of the month, another sunny day, and had a wonderful time. Yesterday we packed up early and hit the road for the beach. It was the most beautiful day I have had on the Oregon Coast my entire life. It was warm, hardly any wind, and absolutely pristine.
Malachi ran his little legs off, and ours too. We will be making many trips out there in the coming months, hopefully with daddy too this next time! Making memories like these has been such a blessing and so special. Parenthood is the most amazing gift I have ever been given.

Catching Up....
Happy New Year everyone! I should have known that with the new pregnancy and all the holidays that I was going to get behind on this. I still never meant to let this much time pass! A lot has happened so I'll try and give some small nuggets. I will also post a lot of different slideshows so I can incorporate as many pictures as possible from the past few months.
October was wonderful, as far as I can remember! I battled morning sickness most of the month but I do remember Malachi's birthday and what a special celebration that was. We were blessed to have Don & Sara drive up with our nieces Madeline and Emily from California just for the celebration which was very special and meant a lot to us. Aunt Lexi blessed us and flew up from California as well. We also had the Carolus/Kashas family drive down from Camas, Great Uncle & Aunt Georgia drive up from Albany, & the Auer clan from Corvallis & Independence. Everyone made a big effort to make this day very special and it truly was. We were so thankful to all of our family & friends near and far who shared in the celebration with us. My girlfriend Sierra helped me bake over 60 cupcakes and a monkey cake...I should say she did all the work while I watched...the sickness wouldn't let me participate much :(. There is a slideshow of just his birthday pictures because there were so many.
November was a bit of a blur I'm afraid. Matt spent a lot of time taking care of me & occupying Malachi who started walking in October & running in November. He went from busy to busier overnight. It has not been as difficult to keep the weight off this pregnancy! He's like a built in aerobic program that is ready to train every day weather or not I'm up for it. I did have a chance to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time in November which was very special. Thanksgiving was spent in Independence at Uncle Ron's house with the Auers and extended family. After eating more food than I think I've ever seen at a single Thanksgiving we played every kind of poker imaginable and had a great time. Malachi refused to go to bed after we got back to the Auer home so Grandpa Auer & Daddy hung his swing in the middle of the living room from the rafters and we all took turns pushing him. How do you spell spoiled again? Is it M-A-L-A-C-H-I?
December came and I finally started to come out of the haze of morning sickness...yay! Just in time for the holidays. Another doctor's appointment and chance to hear the baby's heartbeat and we scheduled our ultrasound to find out the baby's sex. It will be on Matt's & my 4 year wedding anniversary, January 20th. We're keeping our fingers crossed for a girl....but thinking it may be another boy!
We started celebrating Christmas on the 20th of December with the annual Sweet family celebration at the Dawson home. It took longer than usual to get us all gathered this year but minus cousins Luke & Lexi we all made it safe & healthy once again. It has been amazing to be a part of the family's growth over so many years, this was Malachi's first "squirrel" gift exchange and Omi (Grandma) made sure there was a tickle me Elmo just for him!
Christmas Eve we spent with Cokers for the traditional prime rib dinner and so much more! I think I ate more this Christmas Eve than I ever have before! We were able to attend a beautiful Christmas Eve service at church as well which was wonderful however, I think it may have put little Malachi over the edge for the rest of the evening with the Cokers. Poor guy kind of hit his limit but all in all he held up.
Christmas morning and Santa came to our house for the first time, I got teary eyed video taping Malachi as he ran to his stuff...these next few years are going to be sooo much fun! It was off to the Dawsons at noon for Mom's traditional breakfast and our gift exchange. We all took turns laying around in our pajamas and chasing Malachi until dinner was done which we ate a bit early due to Malachi (he's changing everything!). He crashed around 4...and crashed hard.
Saturday morning found us off to the Auer's! Malachi had an amazing night's sleep and was in much better spirits which lasted until about noon when he was once again "done". Gma (Grandma Auer) and Auntie Leighann took him for a long walk and once again he was out. Matt went duck hunting and shot his first duck! Despite efforts to get me to take it home and cook it by my dad I plead morning sickness and refused. I have a feeling that I won't be able to refuse for long...I will be a game cook soon enough!
Sunday....a day to relax? No. Matt decided that he had had enough of Christmas and that it must come down and we had our friend Becki driving from Washington to stay with us. So after not being home for three days we cleaned, organized, and sadly retired Christmas for 2009. Needless to say by the end of the day Sunday I was beat!
New Years we spent back at the Auer home. It was an early evening for us, barely made it until mid-night (age is really something!). Matt attempted to get some more ducks the next day but had no luck. My ducks attempted a Rose Bowl victory but were also unsuccessful....it was an amazing year though and 2010 will be even better! I won't be counting down the days until next Christmas...but I will be counting down the days until Duck Football starts again! GODUX. Home late on New Year's Day...and even more exhausted.
